Here is what changes for manufacturers in Odoo 20. Manufacturing orders get draft and confirmed states, a Kanban view and as-soon-as-possible planning, plus component replacement and continuous production. Bills of materials can be compared side by side in PLM. Traceability improves: lots and serials can be generated when a manufacturing order is closed or in bulk in Barcode, and lot/serial transfers are new. Quality adds failure locations and bypassable checks, and Purchase adds alternatives comparison and recomputed expected arrival dates.

Manufacturing order states and planning
Odoo 20 distinguishes draft from confirmed manufacturing orders, can split orders and plan them as soon as possible. Custom MRP flows, automated actions and reports that read MO states need retesting.
Lots, serials and traceability
Lots and serials can be generated in bulk in Barcode and when closing manufacturing orders, and lot/serial transfers are new. Custom lot-numbering modules may become unnecessary; traceability reports should be checked on upgraded data.
Stock valuation
Delivery values are updated retroactively when product costs change after delivery, and valuation can run without the Inventory app. Compare stock valuation per product and location before go-live.
Purchase and quality
Purchase adds alternative comparison, a vendor quality rate and recomputed expected arrival dates; Quality adds failure locations and bypassable checks. Custom purchase approval or quality modules should be compared with the new standard features.
