The client
Sama Zagros runs its business on Odoo Enterprise: sales and CRM, rentals, inventory and purchasing, accounting, point of sale and its website, eight apps in one database.
The challenge
Sama Zagros was on Odoo 17, which left standard support in September 2026. Getting to Odoo 20 means crossing three major versions, and in October 2026 Odoo's official upgrade platform offered only 17.0, 18.0, 19.0 as targets, not 20.0.
What we did
- Three hops in one project. TechUltra Upgrades ran 17 → 18 → 19 → 20 back to back, with each hop logged and checked before the next started.
- Enterprise apps kept. Sales, CRM, Rental, Inventory, Purchase, Accounting, Point of Sale and Website all came across to Odoo 20 Enterprise.
- Custom code handled separately. Custom modules were detached during the hops so the standard data migrated cleanly, then attached again as ported Odoo 20 code.
- The live system was never touched. Every hop ran on a copy of the database, so the Odoo 17 system kept running throughout.
The result
Sama Zagros now has its database running on Odoo 20.0+e (Enterprise Edition) and its team is testing everything there before go-live. The test copy is neutralised, so no emails go out and no payment providers are called while they test.
We'll update this page when they go live.
