Cost of waiting

What staying on an old version costs

Two costs grow every year you wait: the extended-support fee on your Enterprise subscription, and the size of the upgrade itself, because each new release adds another hop.

Odoo says extended support "requires an additional fee". Partners such as Captivea report it as roughly 25%. Use the figure from your own contract.

FAQ

Odoo support FAQ

Can't find your answer? Ask an upgrade engineer.

How long is an Odoo version supported?

+

Odoo gives each major version three years of standard support from its release. After that, extended support is available for an additional fee.

Is Odoo 17 still supported?

+

No. Standard support for Odoo 17 ended in September 2026. Odoo 18 is supported until September 2027, Odoo 19 until September 2028 and Odoo 20 until September 2029 (planned dates).

What does extended support cost?

+

Odoo states that extended support requires an additional fee. Several Odoo partners report it as a surcharge of about 25% on the Enterprise subscription; check your own contract for the exact figure.

Can I upgrade from a version that is out of support?

+

Yes. Unsupported versions can still be upgraded; the path is simply longer because every skipped version is another hop with its own breaking changes.
